The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is one of the largest commercial banks operating in Pakistan. It has redefined its role and moved from a public sector organisation into a modern commercial bank. Crowing demand for investment in accordance with Shariah principles has seen growth of more than 30% in the past few years. The journey of Islamic banking at NBP is nothing new. In 2013, the bank adorned the phenomena with the brand name NBP-Aitemaad. With the current branch network expansion, NBP-Aitemaad has become the third largest among Islamic banking branches. Currently we have 69 dedicated Islamic banking branches and a presence in 47 cities. This was, Alhamdulillah, managed in just 12 months. NBP plans to increase its size to 150 branches by the end of September 2016. NBP is also focusing on opening branches in unbanked and remote areas of the country.
