Turning the Kaleidoscope: Changing the Views about Women in Science and Engineering

National Science Foundation (NSF) Deputy Director Kathie Olsen uses her vibrant persona to influence public views about the value of science and engineering (S&E) to the nation. As a neuroscientist and public policymaker, she paves the way for women and minorities in science and engineering. In fact, she will be the first to tell you that a degree in science and engineering provides countless opportunities. She actively supports programs geared at training an all-inclusive science, engineering, and technology workforce. Prior to NSF, her comprehensive outlook was shaped by experience at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, NASA, and on Capitol Hill.
