Title IX in Science: Improving Gender Equality

Over the last 40 years, the histories of the Association of Women in Science (AWIS) and Title IX of the Education Act Amendments of 1972 have been intimately intertwined. The 1971 creation of AWIS is, in fact, often cited as having occurred alongside the introduction of Title IX, as both focused on creating equal opportunities for women in education and the work place.
