Women who work in male-dominated fields say they gain greater confidence in Smith's signature all-women learning environment Surrounded by high-achieving peers, they gain courage to put forth their authentic professional selves. Smith College partners with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) on programs that make a measurable difference in women's leadership skills. Women tend to be apprehensive about a "women-only," week-long retreat, but the programs, From Specialist to Strategist and Directing Innovation, put on by SWE and Smith College work hard to create a safe and authentic space for women to truly open up about their challenges and experience, and learn from each other.
