摘要

We have had several questions arise from the industry since our last column ran on Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-KnowAct (EPCRA). We understand that this subject can be extremely complicated if you try to interpret the regulations word for word; so we have distilled the facts and brought several items to the surface that pertain to our industry to ensure that you understand what these regulations mean to you. EPCRA is a federal law that requires businesses to track and report hazardous chemicals that are stored or used in certain quantities on-site at any one time. These chemicals must be reported to both state and local authorities by way of filing a Tier II report. In turn, those authorities provide the reportable information to emergency responders so that they will be aware of any potential hazards that exist at or nearby a facility when they are dispatched to respond to a fire or similar emergency.
