Continental has developed four-piston fixed cattpers which it claims solve the inherent problem of brake squeal and which also save 1,5kg per comer. An issue with most fixed-catiper designs is that, because the body is rigid, vibrations cannot be dampened, which manifests itself as squeal. The Tier One has addressed the issue by optimising the shape of the brake pads and by adopting a fixing method similar to that used on f ist-caliper brakes, which do not suffer from the same NVH challenges.
