The Wine Industry Journal finishes its 2008 series of Varietal Reports with a close look at premium quality Cabernet Sauvignon, produced by some of Australia's finest winemakers. Cape Mentelle's Robert Mann introduces the report and gives his view of the variety that he most admires, also reviewing the winery's role in hosting the recent International Cabernet Tasting, where top Cabernets from around the world were compared and contrasted throughout the day's event. A special thank you to Robert for his insight to Cabernet Sauvignon, and the people behind the labels of Balnaves of Coonawarra, Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Blue Pyrenees Estate, Helm Wines, Leeuwin Estate and Henschke Wines for their time in conveying their production and marketing methods of these great wines. Turn to the tasting section of this report for the full account of how the wines lined-up at the event held at the newly-opened Wine Innovation Central building in late November. We are grateful for the support of the producers who kindly contributed their wines to this tasting, and we appreciate the University of Adelaide's hospitality in hosting the tasting.
