Perth Hills benefits from proximity to city

The Perth Hills wine region is located within an hour's drive east of Perth and stretches from Chittering in the north to Serpentine in the south. The region lies within the Greater Perth Zone, shared with Swan District to the north and Peel to the south. Vines were first planted in the region in the 1880s but it wasn't until the 1970s that the first of the present day wineries were established. There are now around 20 wineries operating in the region and most are boutique wineries crushing less than 50t.
