Queensland's Regional Planning Interests Act 2014 - an Act to manage the impact of resource and other regulated activities on areas of regional interest

One of the commitments made by the Queensland Liberal National Party during the 2012 election campaign was to introduce a framework to manage land use conflict and facilitate co-existence, in particular between mining and resource activities, and cropping and agricultural land uses, through regional planning. To this end, the Regional Planning Interests Bill 2013 (Qld) (the Bill) was passed by Queensland's parliament on 20 March 2014. The Regional Planning Interests Act 2014 (Qld) (the Act) will commence on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
