摘要

The stratigraphy, lithofacies, and petrologic character of the Plio-Pleistocene volcanic ash layers were clarified in a 1,700m core drilled at Uozakihama, Higashinada-ku, Kobe City, in the Northern part of the Osaka sedimentary basin. The chemical compositions of volcanic glass shards from major volcanic ash layers were measured. The volcanic ash layers were cor- related with previously known tephras based on stratigraphic, lithologic, and chemical char- acteristics.
