Subsurface Geology Reviewed with Drilling Data in the Kobe-Hanshin Region, Central Japan

摘要

The subsurface geology in the region of the 1995 Kobe (Hyogoken-Nanbu) earthquake in central Japan is significant for understanding the causes of severe earthquake damage. This paper introduces the subsurface geology in the Kobe and Hanshin region (between Osaka and pleistocene unconsolidated sediments collec- tively called the "Osaka Group" and the dis- tribution pattern of late Pleistocene to Holo- cene sediments in shallower areas.
