Steep, Strait and High: Ancient houses of central Lincoln

This volume concludes the series of surveys of historical buildings in Lincoln, marking the end of 45 years of historical and architectural research on the City of Lincoln. As a volume it also brings together over 20 years of research by the authors. The extent of their knowledge is clear throughout the volume. It covers some of the most fascinating and oldest of the buildings in the city: covering the area from the cathedral, down Steep Hill and along the strait to the High Street it considers the building known as The Harlequin, with its thirteenth-century origins, and the twelfth-century Norman House near the top of the hill, passing the twelfth-century Jew's house further down coming into the Strait and the property known as the Cardinal's Hat from the sixteenth century but with far earlier origins on the High Street.
