Als Labor der Stadtentwicklung präsentiert sich das rund elf Hektar große Sonnwendviertel Ost nahe Wiens Hauptbahnhof. Zwischen Bahntrasse und ausgedehntem Park entstanden seit 2012 fast drei Dutzend Häuser als Ergebnis innovativer, qualitätsorientierter Verfahren beim Masterplan, bei vielen Baugrundvergaben und bei den einzelnen Bauplanungen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Stadtraumqualität mit zentraler Fußgängerpromenade und ein ambitio-nierter Funktionsmix, der von Baugruppenprojekten und den themenorientierten „Quartiershäusern" geboten wird. Zusätzlich gibt es auch „konventionellen" geförderten und frei finanzierten Wohnbau, der die traditionell hohen Wiener Standards fortsetzt. Between the train tracks and a large park.
