International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture (MIEC) and Abade Pedrosa Municipal Museum (MMAP)

The project consist of the construction of the head office of the International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture (MIEC), as well as the renovation of the Abade Pedrosa Municipal Museum (MMAP). Following the initial plan conceived by the Council, the project involves the construction of a new building to contain MIEC's documental collection, and the refurbishment of the building currently housing MMAP. There is only one area of contact between the two buildings which, though functionally related, are independent in their structure and architectural discourse. Thus, access to both museums is gained through a common entrance, located in the new building, leading to a single reception lounge, or atrium, as both institutions, though different in their scopes, share a number of resources.
