Make New History in the Expanded Field: Selected Projects in the View Point of 'Make New History'

When we first offered the prompt of Make New History to our participants in the Chicago Architecture Biennial, we anticipated responses from the perspectives of building histories -looking into the histories of built artifacts; image histories - into the histories of representations; material histories 一 the histories of matter; and civic histories - the nistories of architecture from an urban scale. As materials wei proposed and subsequently developed, microtaxonomies bega to emerge pertaining to issues related to type, precedents, and primitivism as well as critical conservation and reconstructioi In this issue we have selected a series of projects from the offices of various participants to expand upon the following emerging themes explored in the biennial.
