Born in the Netherlands and educated at the University of Delft and Columbia University, Theodore Prudon is one of America's most distinguished practicing conservation architects and teachers in the most prestigious postgraduate conservation program in the United States. In Preservation of Modern Architecture, Prudon tackles, in an encyclopaedic length of 557 pages, the looming and daunting issues concerning the care and preservation (as conservation is generically known in North America) of significant modern buildings. Only in relatively recent times have conservationists turned their attention to the built legacy of the recent past. Good books on the subject represent a developing genre in an infant and relatively sparse field.
