摘要

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, our sense of values for architecture has been greatly altered. "Vertical log construction method" is a construction method to make the organic material of wood as panels and to handle them as industrial products, and we even tried to apply them to temporary housing construction when materials were lacking immediately after the earthquake. We eliminate the arbitrariness of design to aim a primitive space by making full use of the characteristics of the vertical log construction method. In addition, this building is also a model of the vertical log construction method. The Haryu box is built in the area to get near 2 m of snow. In the severe external environment such as snow storm, in order to make the activity of dwellers free, a large atrium space is provided. We consider this architecture as one of the objectives to be rooted in the region as a system as well as to be utilized in the reconstruction, giving importance in the potentiality as a wooden material and the expandability as an architecture.
