What Ahmedabad was for the architectural culture of India in the 1960s and 1970s, Bangalore is now in present times. A fortuitous combination of patronage and the presence of key architects produced a climate of innovative and imitable Modern architecture in Ahmedabad. A new form of patronage and investment has now catapulted the once bucolic city of Bangalore into the capital of 'India, Inc', a global buzzword for India's new economic turn. The resulting building boom has released an architectural energy that is evident in the plethora of work that showcases experiments and innovations in design.
