In recent weeks my mind has been focused, by synchronistic events, on the potential of architectural design notation to adequately describe existing sites and networks - a notation that far exceeds the primitive methodologies of traditional site analysis that have been taught in architectural schools since their inception. So might it be possible to use the same notation to proactively design a 'pre-architecture' that then becomes a truly ecological and sustainable architecture? Simultaneously, again, I've been notating my rather wacky 'Communicating Vessels' for Mark Garcia's forthcoming book on architectural diagrams; concerning myself with complex dynamics, changing fields and sensitivities of objects and sites over time, symbolism and open-ended architectural systems.
