In contemporary China, there is a significant imbalance in rates of development between the eastern coastal provinces and the western inner country, and between cities and rural areas. Grounded in the search for a sustainable design strategy that is suitable and localised for the various parts of the country, Song und Partner Atelier (SUP Atelier) has developed three focus points through practice: the use of natural resources; the embodiment of cultural diversity; and the adoption of suitable technologies.
