Starting a new practice, dare I use the analogy, must be somewhat akin to giving birth. Periods of joy, doubt, fear and elation result in a creation that absorbs the influences of its creators and grows to become its own entity. The aim of this issue is to have a look at how young architects are drawing on the influences and teachings of senior architects when making the decision to branch out on their own.
