During the past twenty-five years, millions ofvery reliable RF and microwave power devices have been produced with both aluminummetalization and with gold metalization. The industry rule of thumb has been that either aluminum or gold could be used to produce high performance, reliable devices for most applications below 1 GHz, but that gold was the metalization of choice for applications above 1 GHz.
