This book is well-written, full of surprises, provocative and contains much useful information. For the most part it is beautifully and insightfully argued. The central thrust of the book is to query the validity of a large body of work in the growing field of animal welfare. Such is the success of the'logic the foundations of much of that field are destroyed. For this reason it is easy to imagine the book receiving negative attention.
