Two JSM Workshops, an Update on NSF, and a Request for Information

During JSM this past August, I was involved with two workshops. On the Friday and Saturday prior to JSM, the Caucus of Academic Representatives held the first Workshop for Chairs of Programs in Statistics and Biostatistics. About 50 people (speakers and participants) met to learn about the issues involved in managing a department and how to deal with them. The Caucus of Academic Representatives is a new group within the ASA whose purpose is to identify and address issues of statisticians in the academic community. The workshop is expected to be an annual event.
