摘要

The Army of Northern Virginia's morale was high in June 1863. It had just won a remarkable victory at Chancellorsville and was looking forward to moving north and campaigning in enemy country. The men of the Second Corps would be operating for the first time without Stonewall Jackson in command, but when two divisions won a smashing victory at Winchester it appeared Richard S. Ewell had adequately filled Jackson's shoes. Next would be a push into Pennsylvania and ultimately the Battle of Gettysburg.
