Redwood City Delivers Recycled Water to Local Businesses

After a contentious public campaign that nearly brought the citywide recycled water program to a halt, recycled water began flowing to 25 commercial businesses in Redwood City, Calif., in June 2007. This is the first phase in a program that will eventually bring recycled water to industries and businesses throughout the city. Redwood City is a community of 76,000, located 25 mi south of San Francisco. The city receives 100% of its water supply from the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System operated by the city of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC).
