Functional Data Analysis with R and MATLAB

In 1998, Ramsay and Silverman published a book, Functional Data Analysis, introducing a series of methods and, even more importantly, a way of thinking about functional data. At the time, functional data analysis was just emerging, and not even recognized as a subfield in statistics. Since then, functional data analysis has become a fast growing and important area of statistical research, as functional data have been increasingly encountered in a large number of scientific disciplines.
