This book is designed to highlight Stata as a tool for data management. It has a "how to" focus, which works well as a companion to the Stata reference manuals. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the book and details simple Stata commands for displaying observations in datasets. Chapter 2 describes how to read data into Stata, including reading Stata data files created in the older versions of Stata or entering data directly into Stata using the Stata Data Editor.
