Wool and wool blends have been a part of people's wardrobes since man first used textiles for clothing. But the textile industry has found many ways to change the feel of wool since then, which can make it difficult to determine whether the fabric is wool. Fortunately, garments' care labels list fiber content, eliminating the guesswork. Even with good labeling, however, disaster can strike. In one situation, a spotter/cleaner received a sweater in a hamper along with other garments. Noticing that its label called for hand-washing and listed the fiber content as 100% wool, he placed the item in the "washable" hamper, and routed it to the wetcleaning department.
