Most drycleaners spend all their time chasing pre-tax dollars. They think that the more dollars they can get to fall into the profit pail, the better off they'll be. They're wrong. There's a big distinction between pretax and after-tax dollars. Consider how you can maximize after-tax dollars. To take a simple example, would you rather have 60% of $1,000 or 100% of $750? That $1,000 is an impressive number-you can buy a lot with $1,000. But you can buy more when your $750 is tax-free.
