The 2016 SC&RA Job of the Year contest featured 21 entries by 13 companies. Projects entered were located in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Italy, India and Africa as well as throughout the United States. There were 13 entries in the three Specialized Transport/Moving categories and eight entries in the four rigging categories. Emmert International removed an old transformer, off-loaded a new transformer from a rail car and transported it to a power plant in San Antonio, TX. Fully dressed for installation, the new transformer weighed 545,920 pounds and had an overall length of 43 feet 9 inches, a width of 21 feet 9 inches and a height of 26 feet 10 inches. Emmert used two customized transporters; each one performing at different stages. One transporter was used to offload the transformer and transport the load to the plant, and another, to maneuver the tight turning radius of the confined work space of the power plant. Equipment used included a Goldhofer 14 line PSTe and 12 line PSTe, a jack and slide system and a jack lowering and raising system.
