Of all the tools available to cake decorators, one of the biggest time savers must surely be the range of molds, stencils and impression mats that create stunning detail with just a bit of pressure. But with every tool, it's all in how you use it-as these decorators demonstrate. This cake, inspired by a costume worn byjudi Dench in Shakespeare in Love, won the Grand Prize at the 2011 Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show. Gary Silver-thorn chose that because it was an elaborate gown from a movie that won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. "I knew it would give me lots of detail to work with," he said.
