Atrip to Merida, a gracious colonial town in the center of the Yucatan Penisula, inspired Susana Martinez Zepeda with the hundreds of examples of brightly embroidered textiles the region is known for. She purchases two belts as gifts for her daughters, but soon enough borrowed them back to use as the template for her'tribute to Merida' cake, which was featured at the 2011 ICES convention.
