QUILLED MONOGRAM

At the 2011 ICES show Sheila Miller earned her CMSA status and one of the projects she completed during the test was this quilled monogram cake. "I first learned the craft of paper quilling in the 1980s," explains Sheila/Then I discovered the same techniques could be used with gum paste or wafer paper. Many brides and grooms request monograms on their wedding cakes and quilling provides a different twist on this popular form of decoration." She notes that the technique can be used for many different designs, including beautiful snowflakes appropriate for upcoming holiday cakes.
