Growth of China's aluminium industry and expansion of aluminium use in transport along with the nation's economic transition

In China, aluminium is regarded as a material of strategic importance for the nation's economic and social developments. As such, the development of China's aluminium industry as a whole, composed of both state-owned and privately owned enterprises, has been collectively guided, coordinated, regulated and stimulated by the Chinese government with respect to the plan, strategy, policy and standards. (Note that such a central government role barely exists in the west.) Naturally, recently established and implemented government policies relevant to the aluminium industry have all embodied China's changing economic growth model and its shift of focus onto structural reforms and the improvements of quality and efficiency of China's economy.
