This 707-344 (MSN 17929/Line N° 154) was built in 1960 for South African Airways as ZS-CKD Cape Town (subsequently re-registered ZS-SAB). Retired by SAA in 1977, it was acquired by Guinness Peat Aviation and leased to Vietnam Airlines (Hang Khong Viet Nam) in October 1978. Its flying career ended by March 1980, and five years later the 707 had been settled in its present position, supported by concrete blocks.
