Understanding the implications of regional curfews on U.S. airport operations is an idea resubmitted by HMMH President Mary Ellen Eagan for an Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) project. Asked by ANR if the focus of her suggested research would be on the impact nighttime operational curfews imposed at airports in Europe, and other regions of the world, would have on U.S. airport operations, she replied: “Yes, the issue we’re seeing is that curfews outside the U.S. are resulting in schedules that are unreasonable on the other end (e.g. – not a real example, but you can probably find one – in order to accommodate a 6 a.m. curfew in Europe, a flight might not be able to leave the U.S. before 11 p.m., creating more noise for the U.S. airport).
