Good Global Growth

The 7.1% climb in global airport passenger traffic posted in 2010 was above the annual growth recorded in most of the past decade and pre-crisis levels (table 1). The aggregate increase in airport passenger traffic calculated by Arthur D. Little for 2010 was higher than has been reported by other organizations, including Airports Council International, which put the traffic growth last year at 6.6% to 5.04 billion. The ACI data are based on the submissions of 1,318 reporting entities, whereas the ADL survey incorporates traffic from 1,414 airports handling some 5.3 billion passengers. In the Asia Pacific region and in Latin America the ADL database includes a large number of regional airports and many of these airports posted high growth rates (see sidebar Sources and Data, p. 52).
