摘要

Well-known photographer Jim Larsen was recently archiving some of his earliest aviation photographs when he came across what we are calling his "mystery" Corsair; mainly because the US Navy Bureau Number does not show. "I first saw this Goodyear FG-1D during an airshow at Naval Air Station Denver [now Buckley AFB] about 1955," recalled Jim. "There was an air-show and the Corsair was parked on the side of a ramp where spectators entered on their way to the show. The Corsair wasn't part of the show - it was just simply parked there. At the time, there were Bearcats, SNBs, and TBMs operating with the Naval Reserve at the field. When I returned to the base a couple years later, the Corsair had been moved to the infield where it was starting to look a bit bedraggled. By this time, the NAR was flying Cougars." So, does anyone have an identity or fate for this Corsair? It may have been left over from Denver NAR operations and not flown to NAF Litchfield Park for disposal and storage like the majority of the Corsairs. If you have information, please contact the Editor at moleary2challenge@gmail.com.
