ANGOLA Oil majors take Angola LNG leadership to task

2019 should be a decisive year for the joint venture Angola LNG (ALNG), which has operated the Soyo LNG plant since 2013. According to our information, a group of majors that have invested over $10 billion in the facility, are calling for a change in management of the JV to make up for years of delays. American giant Chevron, which holds 36.4% of the JV, Italy's ENI, British major BP and French firm Total, which each own 13.6% of the project, have all pointed the finger at state-owned firm Sonangol, which itself owns 22.8% of ALNG. The shareholders want to see both a new set of directors as well as more streamlined administrative processes. President Joao Lourenco could be receptive to their comments, given that most of Sonangol's directors involved in the project came on board during his predecessor Jose Eduardo Dos Santos's tenure.
