The multi-national Eurofighter Typhoon, now in production, has a fully integrated onboard recording system (OBRS), covering support of maintenance, mission, accident/incident, and special study elements. The purpose of these complex systems is to minimize maintenance costs and maximize operational readiness. Training the software specialists who will maintain these systems is a central issue in the efficiency of the aircraft. Training and consultancy specialist Objektum, focusing on object-oriented, real-time, and embedded systems for the defense and aerospace industries, has been appointed by EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space) to deliver courses to the German Luftwaffe to provide its maintenance teams with the necessary skills.
