The process all begins with the lowly chip, but just how that chip is machined away from a hunk of metal can make all the difference when it comes to profitability for both the machine operators that do the cutting and grinding, and the OEMs that manufacture and assemble their winged products.rnMachine tool manufacturers are attacking that challenge on many axes: faster spindle speeds, quicker feed rates, further probing, more efficient compensation measurement, more rapid setup times, and reconfigured machine design.
