摘要

Positioning libraries for the future is of great interest to many librarians and administrators as they face budgetary, societal, and environmental challenges. Sustainable Thinking: Ensuring your Library's Future in an Uncertain World is a thoughtful exploration of how we can address sustainability along with other challenges. Author Rebekkah Smith Aldrich is passionate about the topic of library sustainability. With her significant experience working on these issues in her day job as the coordinator for library sustainability in a large public library system, and as the co-chair of the New York Library Association's Sustainability Initiative, she is well qualified to address this topic. Sustainable Thinking contains three parts, the first of which, "Situation Report" explores a variety of problems that create a challenging landscape not only for libraries but also for society in general. The author stresses that to be strategic about the future of libraries, we have to be aware of the environment as well as the many disruptions that we face, including political, economic, technological, environmental, and social.
