We present the innovative visual analytics approach of thernVATE2 system, which eases and makes more eu000bective thernexperimental evaluation process by introducing the what-ifrnanalysis. The what-if analysis is aimed at estimating thernpossible eu000bects of a modifcation to an IR system to selectrnthe most promising fxes before implementing them, thusrnsaving a considerable amount of eu000bort.rnVATE2 builds on an analytical framework which modelsrnthe behavior of the systems in order to make estimations,rnand integrates this analytical framework into a visual partrnwhich, via proper interaction and animations, receives inputrnand provides feedback to the user.
