AUDIT ROTATION GAINS SUPPORT FROM EUROPEAN BUSINESSES, SAYS GTI SURVEY

Just over half of European businesses support the introduction of mandatory rotation of audit firms, a survey has found. The news came as European politicians debated a final round of amendments last month ahead of a vote on 17 December on audit reform proposals put forward by the European Commission. The Grant Thornton International Business Report survey found that 51 % of EU businesses supported mandatory rotation of audit firms to tackle the risks of 'over familiarity' between auditors and their clients. Only one in five did not support such a move.
