CORR Insights®: The Dubousset Functional Test is a Novel Assessment of Physical Function and Balance

In the current study, Diebo and colleagues [2] present a set of functional tests that seem relatively simple and quick to perform. They state that the purpose for examining these tests is to establish “a more objective and quantifiable assessment method” [2] than current quality-of-life questionnaires for patients undergoing spine surgery for spinal deformities. In light of the increasing cost of these procedures and the frequency at which adults undergo spinal deformity surgery, this goal seems laudable.
