摘要

As the year 2003 comes to an end, we must sadly say goodbye to Ulrich Desselberger, who has decided to retire from his position as an Editor of . Ulrich has done a wonderful job as the European Editor over the past three years, and has been largely responsible for a number of Special Issues of the journal devoted to subjects ranging from “Virus Escape from Immunosurveillance”, “Foot-and-mouth disease” and “Nuclear Functions of RNA virus proteins”. In total, these Special Issues will remain as a permanent testament to Ulrich’s enormous contribution to this journal.
