Poverty inequality and mental health in low- and middle-income countries: time to expand the research and policy agendas

There is a growing body of academic research emanating from low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), focusing on the relationship between poverty, inequality and mental health. This includes observational and intervention research (WHO & Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, ), and increasingly nuanced understandings of the mechanisms in these complex relationships (Plagerson, ).
