PurposeAn artificial placenta would change the paradigm of treating extremely premature infants. We hypothesized that using a veno-venous extracorporeal life support (VV-ECLS) artificial placenta after ventilatory failure would stabilize premature lambs and maintain normal fetal physiologic parameters for 70h.
