ObjectivesObesity is an increasing problem in the UK and bariatric surgery is likely to increase in volume in the future. While substantial weight loss is the primary outcome following bariatric surgery, the effect on obesity‐related morbidity, mortality and quality of life (QOL) is equally important. This study reports on weight loss, QOL, and health outcomes following laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) in a low volume bariatric centre (<20 cases/year) and presents the first assessment of factors relating to the QOL which has been produced from a UK based surgical practice.
